Profile & Experience

The principal of Global Projects Yachting, Alan Nebauer, has been sailing, cruising and racing on numerous voyages to most ocean regions over the past 30 years (yacht deliveries since 1986). He has twice rounded Cape Horn and is a veteran of the BOC Challenge (singlehanded around the world yacht race).

Alan is accredited with the internationally recognised, RYA MCA Yachtmaster OCEAN qualifications, as well as Australian NSW Maritime Master Class V unrestricted certificates. With a reputation, acknowledged by race officials, sponsors and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) by awards, and commendations, for excellence in safety for ocean rescue and other achievements.

With a background in boat building, Alan has had input at various levels for the development of production boats for the Australian cruising market, for both power and sail, as well as one-off projects for new build and refits for round-the-world and trans-atlantic competition.

Project management for Owen Clarke design and owner representation during tender process and construction phases, equipment procurement and commissioning, sea trials, assist owner on pre race delivery voyages from Australia to the Falkland Islands via New Zealand and Cape Horn in preparation for 04 Transat win.

An excellent example of taking a behind schedule project, with limited time constraints into line by utilising design expertise from various international sources for a highly successful outcome.

Project over sight and execution. This radical mini offshore rocket was completed from basic incomplete carbon fibre hull shell. Construction of the internal structure, canting keel, fairing and painting, source equipment, hardware and systems installation and commissioning, sea trialling, compliance with race rules safety regulations. Wild Child was completed to a high standard in a matter of weeks rather than the requisite months to meet race deadlines.

- Delivery from Spain to Australia

Global Projects was engaged to complete the purchase of the vessel on behalf of the owner in Europe and deliver to Australia.

Liaising with brokers and notary authorities to complete international transaction, following preliminary and survey inspections, de-registration from European ownership and documentation for Australian Ships Registrar. Negotiate purchase and oversight of new cruising equipment installation, commissioning and preparation of the vessel for sea. This 13,400 nautical mile delivery completed, on time, on budget, and with vessel in excellent condition.

Deus Regit II small yacht fitted out from hull and deck shell, when Alan Nebauer was in early 20's and embarked on a 5 year 25,000 nautical mile Pacific cruise.
